gmail

Approximately 4.93 million Gmail usernames and passwords were published to a Russian Bitcoin forum on Tuesday, as first reported by Russian website CNews. That’s the bad news. The good news is that this leak doesn’t seem as massive upon further inspection. First off, we got in touch with Google regarding the issue. The company does not believe this is the result of any sort of security breach on its end. “The security of our users’ information is a top priority for us,” a Google spokesperson told TNW. “We have no evidence that our systems have been compromised, but whenever we…

Seven months after Apple acquired Burstly, creator of popular app beta-testing service TestFlight, the Cupertino company has officially unveiled the first official native version of the TestFlight app, available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and opened it to a small number of in-house testers. In the wake of the acquisition back in February, it was revealed that TestFlight would drop its support for Android apps, but in the iOS realm the move meant that developers would soon be better equipped for testing and debugging apps before pushing them live in the App Store, letting them work with up to…

Facebook Debuts As Public Company With Initial Public Offering On NASDAQ Exchange

Facebook is trialing a new feature that lets you schedule the deletion of your posts in advance. A handful of users noticed the feature in the Facebook iOS app earlier this week, and we reached out to Facebook to seek clarification. A spokesperson said: “We’re running a small pilot of a feature on Facebook for iOS that lets people schedule deletion of their posts in advance.” Facebook is no stranger to new features, and the social networking giant regularly introduces fresh facets to the service on a restricted basis, to garner feedback and assess user reaction. Based on the screenshots…

Skype today updated its Windows Phone app with three new features. You can download the new version now directly from the Windows Phone Store. First up, you can now share your location with the people in your conversation, a new feature that is landing on Windows Phone first. To turn on Location Sharing, tap the plus icon in a chat and select “share location.” Next, you can now save images that have been shared in chat: tap the image to enlarge it, then tap for more menu options and select “save photo.” Also in the more options section, you can…

US-IT-INTERNET-FCC

Some of the most prolific technology companies are banding together today to rally support for net neutrality and challenge proposals that many fear will create a two-tiered system on the internet. Reddit, Netflix, Mozilla, Foursquare, Vimeo, Kickstarter and Dropbox, among others, have thrown their support behind the ‘Day of Action‘ on September 10. The campaign is spearheaded by Battle for the Net, a site backed by Freepress, Fight for the Future, Demand Progress and Engine. It offers banner images, widgets and profile pictures of the classic loading symbol that anyone can display prominently on their site, social media or forum accounts. They highlight what could…
