Tesco has sold Blinkbox Music to Australian music streaming service Guvera today for an undisclosed sum. Guvera will use the acquisition to expand into the UK and Western Europe. Blinkbox Music has 2.5 million registered users. Guvera, meanwhile, operates in 20 countries across Asia, Australasia and the Americas. Tesco sold Blinkbox’s video streaming service to TalkTalk earlier this month, along with its broadband and voice services. A Turkish court has ordered Facebook to censor pages that insult the Prophet Mohammed, reports Reuters. The ruling was handed down yesterday with a threat that access to the social network will be blocked if it refuses to comply. The decision, which came at the request of a prosecutor, according to Turkey’s state broadcaster TRT, follows another court ruling earlier this month which ordered news sites that published the cover of Charlie Hebdo featuring a cartoon of Mohammed to be blocked. The BBC has today announced a new initiative called BBC Taster that it hopes will help to showcase new digital talent across its platforms. The organization said the platform will use feedback from viewers and that Taster will be used to incubate new ideas. It added that the platform will use a range of formats for new ideas, including mashup shows. The announcement follows the continual refinement of its digital services like iPlayer, which recently gained 30-day playback of content that has been broadcast through the BBC’s TV channels.
