Microsoft today launched a pre-release of its Outlook Web App (OWA) for Google’s Android operating system. You can download the beta now from Google Play, if you meet the requirements. OWA for Android will only work if: Your device is running Android 4.4 Kit Kat or higher Your mailbox is running on Office 365 for business (doesn’t include Office 365 personal, Office 365 Home, or Outlook.com). Your device size is considered “small” or “normal” by Android OS (translation: no phablet or tablet support just yet). Microsoft says the pre-release is to gather feedback, fix bugs, and generally make sure the…

Brian Honigman is a marketing consultant, a professional speaker and freelance writer. This post originally appeared on the SumAll blog. Amazon is an e-commerce behemoth. The company is a valuable partner to many organizations, while also one of the fiercest competitors to many businesses due to its outright domination across many industries. According to Statista, Amazon’s online retail sales amounted to $67.9 billion, more than the next 9 largest e-retailers combined. Depending on your industry, it can be overwhelming to build your business and effectively compete with Amazon. Turning your e-commerce store visitors into customers is difficult enough, let alone competing with the…

OnePlus today admitted that shipments of its first smartphone, called the One, were delayed because of a security issue. Abhisek Devkota from Cyanogen explained on Reddit that new issues related to OpenSSL came to light on June 5. Instead of shipping a flawed device, Cyanogen – which has developed a custom Android build for the Chinese hardware startup – decided to fix the problem before shipping the first handsets. “We did choose to delay the shipment of the first phones in order to make sure the software was secure and provided the best possible user experience,” a spokesperson for OnePlus…

BitTorrent today released an internal alpha of its server-less chat app. The company says a private alpha launch is still “right around the corner,” but it decided to share some details about its approach to privacy as development progresses. BitTorrent first unveiled its server-less chat app in September 2013. The company promised that it would be private, secure, and free. Engineers working on the app have found that privacy means different things to different people. Ultimately, BitTorrent has concluded privacy is “the ability to express oneself freely with autonomy and to feel safe doing so. To not worry that the…

Pinterest finally has a Windows Phone 8 app

Pinterest1-645x250
Slowly but surely, Windows Phone customers are being treated to the same popular apps found on iOS and Android. Today Pinterest made the leap to Microsoft’s mobile OS, giving handset owners the chance to build, share and explore pinboards with the community. The software, which comes with the same ‘BETA’ label found on Instagram’s Windows Phone 8 app, offers the same grid layout and features found in the company’s other mobile apps. The design is beautiful, although notably it doesn’t come with the Guided Search feature found on iOS and Android. So while it’s not quite as powerful as its other…
