If you’re not keen on 50 Cent’s new record, you can spend some of your hard-earned Bitcoins on a holiday instead. Expedia is the latest site to support the cryptocurrency, giving you the option to pay for a hotel reservation with the controversial virtual cash. The company teamed up with Bitcoin payment processor Coinbase to integrate the service – you should now see the option alongside its usual payment methods such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and PayPal. At the moment, it’s hard to tell just how much demand there is for Bitcoin payment support. The currency still feels novel…

Uber says sign-ups have jumped 850% because of the taxi driver protests in London

Oh dear. Taxi drivers have hit the streets of London today to protest against Uber – and the way Transport for London regulates the firm – but the demonstrations and related media coverage have actually helped the company to attract new customers. Across the city, Uber is reporting an 850 percent increase in sign-ups compared to the same day last week. It’s worth noting, however, that the company hasn’t revealed the total number of new users in the capital – and without knowing the original amount, it’s almost impossible to work it out ourselves. “Londoners are voting with their fingers,…

Travel
It’s been almost three years since we last caught up with Trover, the travel-focused photo app that counts Expedia and Zillow co-founder Rich Barton among its creators. Here’s what we had to say about it at the time: “Trover is something special. It’s not necessarily a place to share photos, although the images populating the app are almost universally high quality.
