Sending money internationally usually involves an expensive wire transfer at a brick and mortar location. “Our lives have become global but the financial system hasn’t caught up,” says Stellar Executive Director, Joyce Kim. Stellar is the latest currency scheme from the tech world to help move the financial system into the present. It’s from the same people that brought you Stripe, the online payment system. The open-source decentralized system facilitates sending and receiving money in multiple currencies. For example, you can send US dollars to a friend or family member in Mexico and it’ll be received as Pesos. The transactions can be peer-to-peer or use…

Dmitry Davydov is a Chief Marketing Officer for Bitrix24, worlds fastest growing free CRM, project management, private social network and online collaboration platform created specifically for small businesses. PR is hard. And expensive. Most of the time, you get nothing out of it. And when your company finally is mentioned in an article, even in a big publication, the results can be disappointing. One time, we got a whooping 169 visitors after being covered by ZDNet. Over the past two years, I’ve made a lot of PR mistakes. I’ve also got Bitrix24 into Forbes, VentureBeat, ReadWrite, PCWorld, PCMag, TechRepublic, CIO, ITWorld and 200+…

Foursquare has outed a new expertise feature in the soon-to-launch revamped version of its location app. Almost like playing a really mundane RPG, users will gain expertise on Foursquare by adding tips to venues. Expertise can be earned for types of places, neighborhoods and cities.       Foursquare says expertise has been one of the most popular features during testing of the new version. While it does seem like an interesting alternative to points…

Facebook has released the first big update to its Slingshot photo messaging app, which launched last month. Now, you’ll be able to reply to friends’ reactions to your photos and videos with a reaction of your own. Similar to Snapchat, Slingshot allows you to draw on photos and add text. The app differs, however, by requiring friends to send a photo back to see your own content and by letting friends send quick reactions to your photo. Now that you can react to reactions, you can start an infinite selfie loop with your friends. Facebook has also added a My People…

Startups can end up with awkward names. Crowdfunding site Crowdtilt was no different. But today the company changed its name to the easier to remember Tilt and it’s celebrating with cheap clothing. The newly renamed service is commemorating its name change by offering a t-shirt with its name and logo for $1 (limit two shirts per person).
