A new alliance has been set up to provide academic researchers with access to the data of smaller social networking platforms such as Reddit, Twitch, Imgur, Stack Exchange and Fark. Researchers are able to obtain data by simply contacting the Digital Ecologies Research Partnership (DERP), where they will then be put in touch with an appropriate team member. THAILAND-HEALTH-MALARIA-MYANMAR

Tanay Tandon is the 17-year-old founder of Athelas, a blood-testing kit for smartphones that is designed to diagnose malaria. For more than two centuries, cell morphology – or the practice of viewing/analyzing a person’s blood – has been the primary way to approach medicine. Athelas changes all that. In short – a malaria test that requires no expertise, takes a few seconds, and costs next to nothing. All…

Cloud Imperium has soared past the $50 million crowdfunding mark for its highly ambitious space simulation video game Star Citizen. At the time of writing, the developer has raised just over $51 million from more than 525,000 fans.
