Messaging app Line has introduced new security measures that notify users when their account is accessed via its desktop app and Web-based store. The move appears to be a response to pressure in its native Japan, where police have fielded complaints from users whose accounts have been accessed by third parties. The company denied that its database was hacked, and instead asked users to create more sophisticated passwords and keep their user ID private. The new feature sends a chat ping when users log in to the Mac or Windows app, or the Web store. It also sends a notification in the event of any unsuccessful…

Google confirmed plans for a YouTube subscription music service earlier this year. Now, Android Police has a pretty solid lead on it with alleged leaked screenshots of the service, which is currently named YouTube Music Key. While details could change as Google puts the final touches on the new product, YouTube Music Key is expected to include Google Play Music All Access, which will be rebranded as Google Play Music Key. Based on the leak, the new YouTube service will offer ad-free music, audio-only mode, offline playback, background listening and more. Users will pay $9.99 for access to a catalog…

Microsoft office

Microsoft today launched a new plugin for Visual Studio called Bing Developer Assistant. The tool, which is available for both Visual Studio 2012 and Visual Studio 2013, helps developers find code snippets and samples directly from within the IDE. In fact, Bing Developer Assistant is actually a combination of two other Visual Studio extensions: Sample Browser and Bing Code Search. Developers told Microsoft that they wanted a more efficient in-product search experience that would allow them not only to find sample code quickly while in Visual Studio, but would also let them pull relevant snippets into their projects. Eager to…

Flappy Bird was an incredibly frustrating game that you couldn’t stop playing. After pulling Flappy Bird in February, developer Dong Nguyen is back with Swing Copters, and it is poised to destroy your sanity. Touch Arcade was able to get its hands on Swing Copters and from the looks of its gameplay video, it’s tougher than Flappy Bird. The new game’s protagonist is a guy with a helicopter helmet. You navigate our hero by tapping on the screen. With each tap he moves left or right but is always moving up through increasingly difficult-to-maneuver ledges with hammers swinging back and forth. So it’s vertical…

A month ago Evernote updated its Web Clipper for Chrome and today Safari gets the same treatment. The updated Web Clipper for Safari has a new compact layout that resides in the top right hand corner of your browser window with all the tools you expect from Evernote including everyone’s favorite pink arrow tool. In addition to all the annotation tools, after an item is clipped, a reminder can be assigned to it and you can highlight text in text clippings. You can also share the clipping via social networks and email. Evernote says that the Web Clipper can be adjusted…
