Sky News launches catch-up TV service for Sky+ HD customers

UK broadcaster BSkyB (Sky) has launched a catch-up news service that allows Sky+ HD subscribers to peruse any of the news items they want at their own leisure. The addition is the first news content to be included as part of Sky’s on-demand offering, which also includes TV shows and movies. As well as providing access to the day’s news, content will also include specially commissioned documentaries as well as providing the option to revisit world changing events from the last 25 years via ‘The Vault’. Instagram followed suit last summer and today, Hipstamatic is joining the fray with a new iOS app called Cinamatic. The premise isn’t exactly revolutionary. Flipkart, India’s top e-commerce company, is taking a leaf out of the Amazon playbook after it announced Flipkart First, a paid-for subscription service that gives customers VIP benefits much like the Amazon Prime service. The company isn’t revealing how much that First membership will cost at this point, nor is it saying when the service will launch.
