Newspaper Company Stock Prices Show Signs They May Have Bottomed Out
Instapaper today revamped its save-it-for-later bookmarking service with a brand new logo, website design and text highlighting feature. The typography used for the old Instapaper logo and app icon was hardly catastrophic – it was quite nice, in fact – but the company has seen fit to tweak it somewhat. The new logo uses a thicker font, although the diagonal strokes are thinner than before, mimicking the brush strokes of a caligraphy pen. It feels closer to the typographic style used in a broadsheet newspaper, and developer Betaworks will be incorporating it into all of Instapaper’s apps, extensions and websites…

firefoxfeat
Mozilla today released Firefox OS version 1.3 to its partners for implementing in their smartphones. There are many new features for both users and developers, and the first phone to feature them is the ZTE Open C, which is available for sale as of today on eBay. First and foremost, Firefox OS users can expect dual-SIM dual-standby (DSDS) support, which gives you two lines on compatible phones, a popular feature in emerging markets. DSDS lets dual-SIM devices individually manage two different SIMs for calling, texting, or data through the “SIM Manager” interface. As for the camera, version 1.3 adds continuous…

Hopster, the UK company on a mission to make educational videos and interactive learning more fun, has announced that its app is now compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch devices. First launched about five months ago for the iPad, the company says its first app has been consistently rated in the top 20 apps for kids aged five or under. Its early success led to the company bringing forward today’s launch in order to expand the service to any device running the iOS operating system. Alongside the new app launch, Hopster said it has also secured “a seven-figure” investment from UK backers, and…

The social bookmarking service Delicious has been acquired by Science-Inc from Avos Systems, a company run by YouTube’s founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Science-Inc, a tech advisory firm run by former Myspace chief Michael Jones, confirmed the deal today in a blog post. It said that Delicious will “be the cornerstone property in our burgeoning data content group” and that “the understanding of trending content is unparalleled” thanks to its billion daily links. Loyal Delicious users apparently have no cause to fear the demise or closure of the service though. Science-Inc’s COO Mike Macadaan said that “in…
