You can now translate messages in the WeChat for iOS app

Update the WeChat for iOS app today and you’ll notice the cross-platform messaging service has a handy new translation feature. To activate the tool, simply long-press on a message and tap the arrow icon on the right-hand side. The next row should include an option called ‘Translate’ which, as the name implies, will convert the text into your native language. We tried the feature in a few different languages, including Chinese, Japanese and Thai. The results were by no means perfect – it’s just like putting a sentence or two through Google Translate – but it’s a welcome feature that…

Yahoo’s new sports app is now available in the UK for iPhone, iPad and Android

Alongside announcements about its News Digest today, Yahoo has also launched its Sports in the UK app for Android and iOS devices. As well as providing a wealth of general sporting news, scores and stats, Yahoo said it has taken the UK’s love of soccer into the equation, and created a tailored, customisable, experience with information that includes team line-ups and formations, goal alerts and more in-game, team and player stats “than any app out there”. Sky News launches catch-up TV service for Sky+ HD customers

UK broadcaster BSkyB (Sky) has launched a catch-up news service that allows Sky+ HD subscribers to peruse any of the news items they want at their own leisure. The addition is the first news content to be included as part of Sky’s on-demand offering, which also includes TV shows and movies.
