Microsoft is combating Google Classroom with its own education platform for teachers and students, called OneNote class notebooks. The service allows teachers to set up OneNote accounts that are synced online using Office 365 and SharePoint Online. Students use the “notebooks” for all of their classwork and teachers can access them at any time to check their progress. Learners also have access to a resource center, where teachers are able to upload all of the documents related to their lectures and assignments. The OneNote Class Notebook Creator app is free for educators with Office 365 and is designed to make teaching…

The Beatles took a long time to arrive on iTunes, but it finally happened back in 2010. Spotify? It’s still waiting. However, the music-streaming platform has managed to nab one of the Fab Four’s back-catalog today. Yes, John Lennon’s post-Beatles music is now available in full on Spotify, including albums Milk And Honey, Plastic Ono Band, Rock ‘N’ Roll, Imagine, Mind Games, Some Time In New York City, Walls And Bridges and Double Fantasy.     An additional three John Lennon compilation albums have also been made available. ➤ John Lennon | Spotify

Fashion community Polyvore has updated its iOS app to include personalized recommendations based on user feedback. As you like and dislike products in the app, Polyvore will learn your tastes by mapping a “Style Graph.” Your feed will then include items that match your preferences. The feature is coming first to iPhone, but Android and other platforms will get it eventually.                       Polymer tied together four different datasets to create its learning algorithm: user-generated content, metadata from its product catalog, shopper behavior and curation. Each of those aspects feeds into the…

Mathilde Collin is the CEO and co-founder of Frontapp. This post originally appeared on the Frontapp blog. Four months ago now, we got accepted to the Y-Combinator for our shared inbox solution. We wrote about our first month inside the famous Californian structure. But recently, we’ve been asked to write what happened after that. And let’s face it, a lot of things happened! So here I am again, after three months at Y Combinator. I’d like to go over what it did for our team, our product and our fundraising. (You’ll also find some advice for filling out your YC application and…

Square Cash for iOS now lets you pay nearby friends using Bluetooth Low Energy

Square has updated its Cash payments app for iOS with the option to send or request money from nearby friends over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). In the past, customers in the US had to initiate a transfer using an email or text message. The former initially felt antiquated, as it needed to copy in either cash@square.com or request@square.com to help the company process transactions. The app works within a 250 foot range and could prove useful when…
