Apple reportedly close to acquiring Beats Electronics for as much as $3.2b

A new report from Financial Times claims that Apple is close to signing a $3.2 billion acquisition deal for Beats Electronics that would bring both its headphones business and its new streaming music service into the fold. The agreement has yet to be finalized, but the report claimed that an announcement could come as early as next week. The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and re/code have corroborated the report. Twitter updates its Web layout with a third column for content recommendation

Twitter is rolling out an update that will add a third column for users accessing the service from a Web browser. The new layout moves the “Who to follow” widget from beneath your profile bio and Trends to the rightmost section – putting your tweets front and center. The addition of the third, rightmost column keeps the layout in tune with Twitter’s new, full-sized layout that centralizes the tweets with secondary information off to the sides. Box begins rolling out its Notes service to all users

Box announced today that its Notes service has emerged from beta and will roll out to all users by early June. Once the feature has been added to your account, a Notes button should appear in your dashboard. Notes includes options for formatting, annotations and collaboration. Box said it has been using the feature internally for company-wide notices, weekly engineering updates, marketing plans, FAQs and press releases. Box launched Notes last September in an effort to round out its cloud storage offering to compete with the likes of Google Docs, Evernote, and Quip. ➤ Box Notes is here!
