Google’s search results now warn you when a webpage is not optimized for mobile

Google has released a fix for faulty redirects on its mobile search — which happens when a website displayed in the search results isn’t properly set up to handle requests from smartphones, and leads you to the mobile site homepage instead. Starting today, first with English search results in the US, Google will have an indication below the result when it detects that smartphone users will be redirected to a homepage instead of the Web page displayed. Alibaba gets into soccer after paying $192 million for a 50% stake in China’s top team

Xinhua reports that the investment is reportedly worth $192 million, and it will see Alibaba become “part owner” of the side which won China’s domestic league and last year’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League. Smartphone sales up 43% in a year in Southeast Asia, with 18m units worth $4.2b sold in Q1 2014

Southeast Asia is an up-and-coming region for smartphones, with sales continuing to intensify and breaking the halfway mark in the overall handset market to surpass feature phones, according to a latest report from market research firm GfK. In total, 18 million smartphones were sold across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam in the first quarter of 2014, up 43 percent from the same period a year ago. Tired of tapping or nodding to see a notification in Google Glass? Google thinks you are. Today the company announced that an experimental feature, Notification Glance will let you see Notifications by just looking up. The current method for seeing a notification involves either tapping the touchpad or nodding your head up. Neither of which seem very cool to anyone standing near you while wear Glass.
