While much of the UK’s TV catch-up chatter seems to center around the BBC’s iPlayer, fellow British broadcaster Channel 4 has just introduced what should prove to be a pretty popular feature to its own on-demand player: 3G and 4G streaming. While the Android incarnation remains a WiFi-only affair for now, iPhone and iPad users can now watch Hollyoaks wherever they wander, free from the confines of a fixed broadband connection. ➤  4OD | App Store

Task-management startup Todoist has launched a new business B2B product called… wait for it… Todoist for Business. The perennially popular productivity platform was launched way back in 2007 to more than a little fanfare in the productivity space. It then rolled out an all-new Todoist built using HTML5, and back in November 2012, Todoist took its first foray into native mobile apps. It has been steadily rolling out new features and products ever since. Though Todoist is already used by many companies, Todoist for Business represents its first specifically enterprise-focused feature-set. The company says that 82 percent of its two…

What do you do when you see a Google Street View car? These guys staged a murder.

Google Street View features some pretty cool things. But it’s also ripe for pranksters who get wind of a Google Street View car in the area. Two mechanics from Edinburgh, Scotland, staged a fake murder, with one chap posing over a motionless body while wielding a pick axe. A concerned netizen spotted the image online, reported it to the police, who thankfully saw the funny side when they turned up at the garage to discover that, well, it was all a ruse. While similar incidents have occurred on Street View in the past, it’s still impressive to see how quick…

HTC_One_M8_side
HTC has posted its monthly revenues for May 2014, revealing that the introduction of its new flagship smartphone wasn’t enough to help it stave off a steep decline in comparison to the same period last year. While the release helped with a brief uptick in sales – April’s revenues were up nearly 13 percent YoY (year-on-year) and more than 36 percent MoM (month-on-month) – it seems that it, nor the subsequent announcement of the HTC One Mini 2, could prevent HTC’s financial performance declining by 27.37 percent YoY in May, a MoM decline of just over 5 percent. While the One Mini 2 (nor the dual-SIM, plastic version known…

Internetopia: New crowdsourced drawing spotlights a teeming universe of human psychodrama

7Detail
Internetopia, a massive, crowdsourced Web drawing by artist Benjamin Redford, started out as an experiment to envision what physical streets and avenues of cyberspace might look like. It ended up as something way more complicated: an interior snapshot of its participants’ collective imagination. Some 220 people heeded Redford’s Kickstarter call to share their thoughts by reserving a cube of space on a communal drawing and telling the artist what they wanted him to draw. Each cube cost $1. People could reserve as many cubes as they wanted. No drawing request was rejected. Internetopia reached its $2,000 goal in under 24 hours — as the tally rose an astonishing…
