Alibaba is busy on two fronts this week. In addition to buying browser-maker UC Web in what it claims is China’s largest tech acquisition, the company has opened the doors of its first direct-to-consumer online store in the US. We first reported on 11 Main in February this year. The US retail store is run by two Alibaba affiliates in the US, Vendio and Auctiva, and has opened in beta today to selected users. The site connects retail brands across a range of categories with consumers using similar mechanics as Alibaba’s hugely successful T-Mall business in China. Flickr adds new sharing capabilities, other enhancements to iOS upgrade

Flickr has updated its iPhone app by adding new photo sharing capabilities in addition to the usual bug fixes and performance improvements. Now at version 3.1, the upgrade includes the following new features: Share albums via Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Mail, or SMS. Add and edit your photo’s tags and description. Group admins can invite photos to a group. Get notifications when your photo is invited to a group. ➤ Flickr

Facebook has two updates on the mobile world today. Facebook for iOS 11.0 got new additions to its Nearby Friends  feature while Android hit version 10.0 with offline posting. Both updates are available now in the Google Play Store and App Store.
