public speech
Matthew Capala is the author of  “Away with the Average,” an NYU Professor, and Founder of SearchDecoder.com. This post originally appeared on Matthew’s Medium blog. I lived in Poland until the age of 23. I moved to New York 10 years ago, where I’ve led several lives: construction worker, scaffold operator, waiter, office manager, digital marketer, consultant, corporate trainer, entrepreneur, professional speaker, professor and executive. In that order. I never really intended to get involved in public speaking until a couple of years ago when my life took a dramatic turn: I was out of a job and struggled to make ends meet…

Football_World_Cup
As the planet takes a collective break to watch the World Cup, there is one certainty, we want to see the latest goals over and over again. Fortunately, there’s a Twitter account for that. @ReplayLastGoal is an automated Twitter account that grabs video of the last goal scored during the month-long sporting event, creates a GIF of that video and posts it. The tweet also contains a link to the original video source. The video is available for viewing for an hour before it’s pulled. The GIF on the other hand doesn’t disappear. The video probably disappears because of copyright concerns. Each…

Lesbian dating app Dattch is now available on Android, and in New York City

Dattch, a dating app for lesbian, bisexual and bicurious women that has previously only been available to iOS users, is now available on Android devices too. Since its launch a little over a year ago, Dattch has been quietly adding new features (like ‘Would You Rather’, a twist on ‘hot or not’) and expanding into new cities. Now, New York City is on that list. Available to download now, the Android version of the app focuses on creating parity with the iOS version. Namely, providing something a little more meaningful and engaging than a simple hook-up. ➤ Dattch | App Store | Google Play

If you haven’t already upgraded to the latest versions of Skype’s desktop apps, you might want to soon. The Microsoft-owned VoIP service has announced that it’s going to “retire” older versions of Skype for Windows (6.13 and under ) and Mac (6.14 and under) in the coming months. The software giant has introduced a number of significant updates to Skype this year, including cross-platform message-syncing, and free group video calls, so it’s worthwhile upgrading anyway. While it’s not clear exactly what ‘retiring’ means, in terms of whether it will simply stop working or will just no longer be supported, Microsoft…
