Dropbox updates desktop client with streaming sync: Up to 2x faster via overlapping uploads and downloads

Dropbox today announced its desktop client is getting streaming sync, a new feature that significantly reduces the time needed to synchronize large files. You can download the new version now from dropbox.com, and the company promises the improvement will be rolled out “over the next couple weeks.” Until now, Dropbox would split its file synchronization into distinct upload and download phases. In other words, a file needed to be uploaded in its entirety before other clients could begin to download it. Google has tweaked its Google Maps app for iOS with a few new updates today which are primarily designed to make it easier to navigate search results and discover places around you. The updated app now shows search results with descriptions directly on the map and offers the option of switching between grid and map view in a bid to help you find the place you’re looking for more quickly. Adobe loosens subscription policy for Lightroom app

Adobe has rolled out a novel way to apply its Creative Cloud subscription policy to Lightroom, its professional photo management and editing package. If you obtained Lightroom as part of a Creative Cloud subscription ($50 per month) or as part of the Creative Cloud Photography Plan ($10 per month), ending that subscription will no longer completely cut off your access to Lightroom. Digg revives News.me as Digg Deeper, revealing the best links your friends are sharing on Twitter
