Yahoo has acquired mobile video streaming firm RayV to bolster its Cloud Platforms and Services team. Word of the deal first leaked back in May. While RayV has been fairly quiet about its technology, the company’s product is a “full end-to-end solution that enables improved high quality streaming for our online and mobile video content partners.” Yahoo intends to use RayV to strengthen its existing video infrastructure. Yahoo has been pouring resources into its Yahoo Screen online video efforts with a focus on offering exclusive content. The company recently agreed to bring back the cult show Community for a sixth season. The Community reboot will likely…

When Apple announced the Swift programming language I heard audible gasps of joy from developers sitting behind me at the WWDC keynote. So for the developers excited about its new language, Apple has launched its own Swift Blog. Concerning its new portal for developers, in its first post Apple states: This new blog will bring you a behind-the-scenes look into the design of the Swift language by the engineers who created it, in addition to the latest news and hints to turn you into a productive Swift programmer. In addition to welcoming developers to the new blog, there’s also a post about…

Microsoft announced today that it was updating its Bing apps with new features for users of the developer preview of Windows Phone 8.1. Everyone else will have to wait. The biggest update is single sign-on. You’ll no longer have to sign in to each Bing app individually. You sign in once and your account is added to each Bing app you choose installed on your phone. For the foodies out there, the updated Food & Drink app is receiving cooking tutorial videos from the Rouxbe Cooking School, how-tos from famous chefs like Wolfgang Puck, Jacques Pepin and Vikas Khanna, and…
