"Assad, Gaddafi and Sallah are rebuking the lesson learned by Ben-Ali, Mubarak and Gbagbo. And that lesson is, you can't crush your own people and at the same time be a puppet of the U.S., but you can crush your people if you play along with Obama's half-baked foreign policy." ~ Yasha Harari

Foursquare’s decision to launch a new check-in app called Swarm has caused quite a stir. If you’re a Windows Phone owner though, you’ve probably been wondering when the controversial app would arrive on Microsoft’s mobile OS. Well, worry no more. Today, Foursquare said its Swarm for Windows Phone app would be ready “in the next few weeks.” It showed a few tantalizing screenshots in a blog post, revealing a mostly similar design to its iOS and Android counterparts. Only yesterday, the company teased its upcoming Foursquare redesign and a new logo, which swaps the check-in iconography for a pink, capital…

Hangout
Brian Honigman is a marketing consultant, a professional speaker and freelance writer. This post originally appeared on the iAcquire blog. One of the best ways to engage your audience on Google+ is by making use of its specific feature sets that make it a unique community. Google+ Hangouts are widely known as one of the most successful features of the social network because they enable individuals and businesses to connect with one another in real-time conversations. Video discussion tools like Skype, ooVoo or one of the many popular webinar platforms have been on the market for awhile now, but none of these tools have the…

yosemite
As promised, Apple has launched the public beta program for OS X Yosemite, the next version of its desktop OS. Apple’s only accepting 1 million people into the program, so you’ll need to snag a spot if you haven’t signed up already. Once you have your code, redeem it on Mac App Store to download the beta. Apple recommends that you back up your hard drive, since this is pre-release software. You’ll also need OS X Mavericks 10.9, 2GB of memory and 8GB of free disk space. The beta site is experiencing some issues at the moment, so give it a…

Nutrino for iPhone is now better at helping you eat better

Posted In: Apps, Around the Web, Product Updates

It seems to be the week for updates from companies we first heard from at last year’s TNW Europe Conference. Following on from the launch of Tyba, food tracking and advice app, Nutrino for iPhone, has today hit version 2.0. New in this version is the ability to set health goals (like losing weight or gaining muscle mass) and have the app tailor its recommendations to help you achieve those goals. You can also log exercise, get food recommendations based on activities detected by on-device sensors and take tests to get a feel for your ‘heart age’ and risk of getting…

Google has today announced that paying users of its Maps Engine Pro custom mapping service can now access its Google Maps Coordinate workforce management and productivity tools at no additional cost. The Coordinate mobile and Web app is designed to allow teams to easily share locations and assign jobs in real-time by using data visualizations on maps. As well as including Maps Coordinate with Engine Pro subscriptions, priced at $5 per user per month, Google has opened up the Coordinate app to anyone with a Google account, meaning it’s no longer only available to Google Apps customers, thereby massively expanding its potential user base….
