The New York Times has a doozy of a security report today detailing what’s believed to be the largest collection of Internet identity theft. Based on research from security firm Hold Security, a Russian gang has compromised 420,000 websites in order to collect roughly 540 million unique email addresses. To make matters worse, most of the affected websites still remain vulnerable, according to the Hold Security founder Alex Holden. A Times source did say that “some big companies” have been informed that their data is among the trove. The criminal group is suspected of using the information to post spam…

Vine for iOS gets better notification controls, revamped share screen, new navigation bar, and more languages

Twitter today updated its Vine for iOS app with new features and support for more languages. You can download the new version now directly from Apple’s App Store. The biggest improvement comes in the form of better controls over notifications, which you receive via push notifications and in the Activity tab. You can now customize both (but not separately) by accessing the Notifications menu in Settings. There’s also a new badge that shows the number of unread activity items and unread VMs right in the app’s icon. The share screen has been revamped to let you post a Vine publicly…

Gregg Pollack is founder of Code School, an online learning destination for developers that teaches through entertaining content. The latest learn-to-code movement has brought on a wave of interest in programming across the board—from kids to working professionals. It’s a positive and necessary shift, considering software development jobs expected to grow 22 percent by 2022: a rise that’s significantly higher than any other occupation on average and a great sign for the tech industry as a whole.
