Amazon has expanded its same day delivery service to six new cities in the US — Baltimore, Dallas, Indianapolis, New York , Philadelphia and the Washington DC metro area. The company’s ‘Get It Today‘ service allows customers to have orders delivered to their door the same day if they are placed before midday. It doesn’t cover all of Amazon’s items, but the company says that over one million products are eligible. The service is already active in LA, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle. Members of Amazon Prime — the subscription that bundles a range of offerings, including Amazon’s music and movie streaming services…

Word of Apple’s plan to announce the next version of the iPhone on September 9 got out in the tech press today (Tuesday US time), and just hours later Samsung revealed its next big launch event: which takes place on September 3. Based on its regular launch cycle and the heavy “note the date” hint, the Korean company is almost certain to introduce the Galaxy Note 4. Samsung used last September’s Note 3 launch event to unveil the Galaxy Gear – but since it released a refreshed line of its wearables earlier this year, another new smartwatch is not likely. TNW will be at the event to bring you all the details…

Smartphone rivals Apple and Samsung have agreed to drop all existing litigation between them outside of the US market, reports the Financial Times. The two companies, which occupy the top two slots based on global smartphone shipments, have been at war in the courtroom across numerous countries for the past few years. A joint statement from the two explains that all international disputes have been dropped, but the duo “are continuing to pursue the existing cases in US courts.” Importantly, no patent licensing deal has been agreed, the companies say. Samsung was ordered to pay Apple more than $1 billion…

Uber today announced UberPool, an experimental ridesharing service that could cut costs by as much as 40 percent compared to its UberX offering. The service is currently in limited beta in the San Francisco Bay Area and will roll out to more users on August 15. Google employees will also get early access to it. With UberPool, the company will attempt to match you up with another rider that’s headed in your direction. The app will tell you the first name of the other rider and which one of you is getting picked up first. If it can’t find a match, Uber will offer…

WSJ: Sprint reportedly no longer interested in acquiring T-Mobile

In a reversal of earlier reports, it looks like Sprint has decided to table its acquisition of T-Mobile according to The Wall Street Journal’s sources. With backing from its parent company Softbank, Sprint was reportedly to be interested in purchasing T-Mobile in a deal that at one point was reported to be $40 a share. One sticking point in the potential deal could have been the FCC. The commission killed a proposed acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T in 2011. Also, according to Bloomberg, Sprint CEO, Dan Hesse is out and the carrier could be announcing a new CEO as early as tomorrow. Sprint sent…
