Yahoo today announced it has relaunched its ecommerce platform as Yahoo Stores, a “completely reimagined, next-generation version” with the same goal of helping anyone start, build and grow a successful business online. The company says its small business team used insights from its over 1 million customers over the past 16 years to create a revamped platform for small business owners. At last, the moment has arrived. Motorola has sent out invites for a press event taking place on September 4 in Chicago. Although nothing is confirmed, a piece of paper origami hints at two products that we’ve all been expecting: The Moto 360 smartwatch and a successor to its premium Moto X smartphone. The smartwatch and high-end Android handset, believed to be called the Moto X+1, are shown as tiny icons alongside another smartphone emblem with the letter “G” wrapped inside. Android and iOS accounted for 96.4 percent of all smartphone shipments in Q2 2014, leaving even less for the competition as the Google-Apple duopoly hit a new high. Android grew its share to 84.7 market share, while iOS fell to 11.7 percent, Windows Phone slipped to 2.5 percent, and BlackBerry tanked to 0.5 percent. The latest figures come from IDC, which found vendors shipped a total of 301.3 million smartphones worldwide in Q2 2014 (the firm’s previous preliminary figure for the quarter was under 300 million).
