After launching a major overhaul of its iOS apps last November, the website building platform Squarespace is doing the same for its Android apps. Today, the company launched two of its four iOS apps on Android in public beta: Blog and Note. The former is a complete app for managing a Squarespace site from a smartphone or tablet; users can easily create and edit posts, as well as moderate comments from multiple blogs. While writing a new post, customers can add photos, videos and format text – Squarespace supports Markdown, as well as its own LayoutEngine – before hitting publish. Note,…

Americans Mourn Passing Of Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs

Following a trend among major tech companies, Apple has released a diversity report for its workforce, as noted by Recode. According to the company, 70 percent of its global workforce is male and 55 percent of its US employees are white. When it comes to tech employees, Apple’s numbers jump up to 80 percent male globally and 56 percent white in the US. Apple’s global headcount currently stands at 98,000. Apple CEO Tim Cook admitted in a letter that he’s unhappy with the current composition. “[The numbers are] not new to us, and we’ve been working hard for quite some…

Yahoo acquires Zofari, a location-based recommendation app

Yahoo has picked up a dizzying number of startups since its Tumblr acquisition in May 2013, and today it added one more with Zofari. The startup currently offers an Android and iOS app that helps you find new spots to explore. Part of the experience is what Zofari describes as “Pandora for places,” which offers personalized collections of venues and businesses that align with your tastes.
