Product Hunt, the hot startup that helps you find the best new products and companies, has today launched an iOS app as it announces a $1 million seed round. If you’re somehow still not familiar with Product Hunt, it’s a mashup of Reddit and Hacker News with the sole purpose of surfacing cool new products from around the world on a daily basis. The startup has gone from strength to strength, with founder Ryan Hoover recently announcing the team had joined YCombinator. Now, just a few weeks later, Hoover says that the company has gathered 51,000 active users on its email…

US payments platform Square has introduced s new analytics tool designed to give sellers “actionable data” to increase sales. The aptly-titled Square Analytics is designed to “level the playing field” for small companies, it says, and delivers easy access to stats and analysis that were hitherto reserved for big companies with big budgets. Square Analytics pulls together the various facets of its point-of-sale (POS) tool Square Register, covering inventory, invoices and appointments. Square Analytics is mobile-optimized too for on-the-move monitoring. ➤ Square Analytics

House

It’s little surprise that living in the UK’s capital can be rewarding, exciting and fun in equal measure, if you ignore the weather and occasional brusqueness of disgruntled occupants. That process is made even harder if you don’t really have a specific area in mind, if you’re new to town or are only staying for a short time. Generally, property apps and websites tend to show listings of…

With Serendipity, Spotify reveals when two people around the world listen to the same song simultaneously

Spotify has introduced a neat little Web app today called Serendipity, which visualises simultaneous listening around the world. Interactive artist Kyle McDonald has been serving as Spotify’s Media Artist in Residence for the past couple of months, and the result is this animated map that jumps to life whenever two people (strangers) listen to the same song at the same time.
