The digital world allows us to take as many pictures as we want and post those to all the social networks. But when it comes to aggregating the events surrounding those memories, it’s like trying to find a remote control in the house of a hoarder. The Vemory (like memory but with a V, get it?) app creates photo albums from all your photos, either stored on your iOS device or on your various social network accounts. The aggregated photo albums are presented as movies with music and peppered with the comments left by your friends on the photos pulled…

Microsoft today updated its Kinect for Windows software development kit (SDK) 2.0 public preview with more than 200 improvements. The new version is available from the same place: as a direct download on Microsoft.com. The release includes the Kinect Fusion tool kit, which provides higher resolution camera tracking and performance, as well as “substantial” improvements in the tooling, specifically around Visual Gesture Builder (VGB) and Kinect Studio. Microsoft is also offering 10 new samples and promising an overall “more stable, more feature-rich” release. This is the first update to the public preview since its release just last month along with…

Andrew Fullerton is the VP of Sales at Emarsys. Digital marketers face a big question in today’s world – is it more important to acquire new customers, or retain and nurture their current customer base? It’s a conundrum companies have faced for years. Should marketers go out looking for new leads and improve sales prospects or develop a loyal and valuable customer? Industry leaders are constantly asking themselves where to allocate money, time and resources to attain the best results in today’s dog eat dog environment. According to a recent survey by Econsultancy, 34 percent of marketers indicated that they…

Yahoo today updated its Android app with integration of its digital magazines: Yahoo Food, Yahoo Tech, Yahoo Travel, Yahoo Movies, Yahoo Beauty and Yahoo Health. You can download the new version now directly from Google Play. The only limitation is that the digital magazines are only available to US users. The company didn’t say when it expects that limitation to be lifted. Lately, Yahoo has been pushing very hard to get its mobile apps up to snuff. The company has even expanded its Yahoo Mail offerings (both Android and iOS) with unrelated features like news, search, weather, sports scores, and…

pressdoc-header

Let’s start with a simple truth: three out of four startups are destined to fail. The scariest thing is, the line between success and failure is a fine one. Even if you’ve got a killer product and your startup is ‘off the ground,’ if you’re not getting your fair share of capital, coverage and customers, your great idea will never be flying. We felt we had to help find a solution. So at this year’s TNW Europe Conference, The Next Web partnered with WeTransfer to launch Boost – a program dedicated to accelerating the growth of early-stage startups from all around the…
