Microsoft announces the dual-SIM 3G Lumia 730 and LTE Lumia 735, with selfies in mind

The first global Lumia event under the Microsoft banner took place in Berlin today. And in addition to the mid-range 830, the tech titan unveiled the 3G Lumia 730 (dual SIM) and its LTE Lumia 735 off-shoot. Selfies were very much the focus of the conversation here, much like HTC earlier today. While its 5MP front-facing camera doesn’t scream WOW, Microsoft was keen to push the other facets of the camera, including enhanced focal length of 24mm, which means a wider lense to capture group selfies. Perhaps more interestingly, Microsoft announced a dedicated ‘Selfie’ app for those wishing to capture…

Microsoft has today unveiled the newest member of its Lumia smartphone family, the Lumia 830, describing it as the first “affordable” Windows Phone flagship device. It’ll arrive costing around €330 in Europe and will start shipping this month. Software-wise, you’ll find Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana (market applicable) and Microsoft’s usual range of products and services, like Office and OneDrive. Naturally, you’ll find an array of Nokia Camera apps and bespoke features. On the hardware side, there’s a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 5-inch display and 10-megapixel camera (capable of capturing 4K video) on the rear. It measures 8.5mm thick and weighs 150 grams. For…

HTC has joined the legions of tech companies that are revealing new products at IFA in Berlin, after it announced the mid-range HTC Desire 820. The 5.5-inch phone weighs in with a Qualcomm Octa-Core 64-bit processor — HTC’s second new device to sport 64-bits, but first to support Android L — 1.5GHz of RAM, and support for LTE networks. Strangely, HTC’s press materials make no mention of which version of Android that the device runs, but we know that it is Android 4.4, aka KitKat.
