More than a year after Tempo AI launched its smart calendar app for iPhone, it has finally been optimized for iPad users too. To recap, Tempo emerged from the vaults of SRI International, the same non-profit research institute that gave rise to Siri. Tempo understands the context around your event and pulls in not only addresses and directions, but contact information for people you’re meeting, related documents and more. Back in July, Tempo also introduced support for natural language input, while traffic delay warnings from Waze were added too. With Tempo for iPad now available, users can sync their calendars…

Today the White House announced it has selected Megan Smith, an experienced Google executive and engineer, as its newest Chief Technology Officer, taking the reigns from CTO Todd Park. She will be joined by new Deputy CTO Alexander Macgillivray, a former Twitter lawyer known for defending the free flow of information online.
