eBay for Android gets a visual redesign, in-app notifications, improved search results, and more

If you’re an eBay enthusiast, either for buying or selling, there’s an updated Android app for you to download from the Google Play store. Version 2.7 brings a “fresh new look” that seems to have taken at least a few visual cues from Google’s Material Design playbook. The new aesthetic is clean and flat, with a predominantly white color scheme and minimal shadows. The home screen offers a search bar and a shortcut to your basket, as well as an easy way to review followed sellers, searches and a personalized feed of items. eBay has made images larger and revamped…

BlackBerry acquires virtual SIM startup Movirtu, plans to support ‘all major smartphone operating systems’

BlackBerry today announced it has acquired Movirtu, a UK startup that allows multiple numbers to be active on a single device. The Canadian company’s hope is to boost its device management offerings in bring-your-own device (BYOD) and corporate owned personally enabled (COPE) environments. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Movirtu’s Virtual SIM platform allows separate billing for voice, data and messaging on each number being used on a device. Employees can thus switch between business and personal profiles without carrying multiple devices or SIM cards, allowing for separate charges to be billed to the company and the employee….
