Back in March, Google announced Android Wear, a project that extends the company’s mobile operating system to wearables, kicking off with support for watches specifically. A number of big-name brands have already used Wear on their timepieces, and some developers even let you create your own custom Android Wear watchface. Indeed, WearFaces is one such service, letting you personalize your smartwatch, be it a Samsung Gear, LG G, or Moto360. To help demonstrate this customization, WearFaces has launched the PEAR watchfaces for Android that are, erm, 100% original and bears zero resemblance to another fruity tech product. Someone has already…

What’s better than Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3? Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, of course. Developer Rockstar Games will be releasing its blockbuster open-world game for Sony and Microsoft’s new systems on November 18. A version for PC gamers has been pushed back to January 27, 2015. With the extra horsepower afforded by the latest consoles and PCs, these updated versions have been given both visual and technical upgrades. Rockstar Games is promising higher resolution visuals and better draw distances, so you can gaze off wistfully into the distant cityscape…

Glympse has long since cemented its position as one of the most popular real-time location-sharing apps for mobile. If you’re new to it, it works like this: you decide which of your contacts can see where you are, so they can track your movements from A to B, and you can set a time-limit for how long the link you’ve shared is active. That’s it in a nutshell, at least. Today, however, Glympse has launched a brand new standalone app for Android users. Glympse Keyboard is fairly revealing from its name – it’s a keyboard that works in conjunction with…

Sega has built an arcade machine where a sandbox is your controller

Sega is launching an arcade machine in Japan that uses a custom sandbox as the controller. The iconic game developer and former console maker is calling it “Edel Sunaba” and, perhaps most impressively, it offers specially modified sand that can be sculpted without water and doesn’t stick to your hands. In other words, video game arcades that pick one of these up won’t be left with a small beach on the floor at the end of each day. Worlds are projected on top of the sandbox and, by analysing the verticality of the sand, the game’s projections will change based…

HTC is holding a press event next month, and the latest rumor suggests that the Taiwanese firm will unveil a waterproof camera in the style of GoPro. That’s according to company sources cited by Bloomberg, which reports that the device could sport a 16-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and WiFi support, and the ability to sync to Android and iOS phones. This wouldn’t be the only reveal at the October 8 HTC event, Bloomberg suggests that a ‘new smartphone optimized for selfies’ may also be unveiled. Yes, another one. GoPro raised more than $400 million from a stellar public listing this summer. Though its brand dominates…
