Virgin Media has announced today that its TiVo television service has been updated for the first time in around four years, bringing a new design and new features to the platform. Among the changes are a new background color – gone is the iconic red color theme, it’s now ‘plum’ instead – and new fonts, as well as redesigned menu structures to make it easier to access live and on-demand programming. Google launches Cloud Platform for Startups, a program that offers $100,000 in credit and 24/7 support

Google today announced Google Cloud Platform for Startups, a new program to help early-stage startups with $100,000 in Cloud Platform credit, 24/7 support, and access to the company’s technical solutions team. The goal is to help them use the cloud to speed up the process of launching and scaling their idea. While the offer is available to startups around the world through 50 of Google’s partners (top incubators, accelerators and investors), there’s a catch. Microsoft’s studio-grade Skype TX for broadcasters is released to manufacturers

Back in April, we reported that Microsoft was targeting broadcasters with the Skype TX, studio grade software “that delivers high quality audio and video output to seamlessly connect broadcast and media productions with people around the world.” Today, Skype TX has been released to manufacturing (RTM) and is demoing the service at IBC in Amsterdam. RTM is a version of software given to manufacturers to include in their hardware to iron out any additional bugs and optimize the integration.
