Twitter for iPhone gets a redesigned profile with expanded features for iOS 8

Twitter for iPhone got a revamp today with a new profile look that features lots of white space, expanded bio views and extra features for iOS 8. To access tweets, photos and favorites, users can select from the navigational tab which now remains at the top so no scrolling or swiping is necessary. The app has also been optimized for iOS 8, which lets you interact directly with push notifications from Twitter. Users no longer have to launch the app to retweet, favorite or follow tweets. Facebook tweaks News Feed algorithm to take timeliness into account

Facebook announced today two changes to its News Feed ranking algorithm that will take into account how timely a post from a friend or a Page is when deciding whether to show it. News Feed will now track the latest trends and display posts related to those topics more quickly. For instance, if a newly-released movie is trending, Facebook may prioritize posts about that movie because they are more timely. Tests of the new feature showed a 6 percent increase in user engagement when in effect. Facebook will also now take into account how likes and shares of a post…

Microsoft today announced a significant update to Bing Image Search, rolling out “in the coming weeks.” The company says the new user experience adapts based on your query and screen resolution, is touch friendly as well as “extensible enough to support the direction we’re heading in.” As Bing has gained new search suggestions and alternate content, and as users increasingly access the service from a wider array of devices (with and without touch), the old experience just couldn’t cut it.
