Chinese ecommerce giant Alibaba has priced its IPO at $68, the high-end of its revised range, The Wall Street Journal reports. Set to begin trading on Friday, the company will raise a near-record $21.8 billion from the offering. The pricing pegs Alibaba at a $168 billion valuation, placing it above Amazon, which has a $150 billion market cap. Alibaba had previously listed a $60-$66 per share range before raising it earlier this week. ➤ Alibaba’s IPO Priced at $68 a Share [WSJ] Thumbnail image credit: Mike Clarke / AFP / Getty Images

Two weeks ago, photo sharing service Twitpic announced plans to shut down later this month due to a legal spat with Twitter over its trademark. Now the company has announced that a mysterious savior has acquired the company and will allow it to live on. We’re happy to announce we’ve been acquired and Twitpic will live on! Home Depot on Thursday provided an update [PDF] to its investigation of an embarrassing security breach, revealing that as many as 56 million unique credit card numbers are at risk from the incident. The company also confirmed that malware used for the hack has been removed from its systems. So that’s a relief, I guess. Home Depot suspects that its US and Canadian stores were exposed from April to September of this year. By comparison, Target’s major security mishap from last year exposed 40 million cards. If you’re worried that your card is at risk, Home Depot is offering free identity protection services…

Larry Ellison, co-founder and longtime CEO of the software giant Oracle, has stepped down from his post to assume the position of executive chairman and chief technology officer. The move is effective immediately, CNBC reports. In his place will be two CEOs, Mark Hurd and Safra Catz, sharing the title and dividing responsibilities, the company said. Manufacturing, legal and finance will be run by Catz while sales, service and business units will be run by Hurd. Ellison isn’t going anywhere, though. According to the report, he will still be working full time at the company in his new, lesser role, in charge of…
