Deezer co-founder Jonathan Benassaya launched StreamNation to the world last year, serving as a platform that lets you stream and share videos and photos directly from the cloud. Shortly after, StreamNation made an interesting move by letting its users upload their own DRM-free (ripped, basically) movies and TV shows to their account, and then lend them to friends and family. Then in June this year, StreamNation launched a standalone app called Shutter to make your iPhone camera roll truly unlimited with free cloud storage forever. Now, this is available on Android too. Shutter for Android doesn’t have any settings as…

There is no shortage of personal finance tools in the App Store, but a new kid on the block is well worth your time too. In a nutshell, MonSense helps you track all your expenses and incomes, with separate ‘accounts’ making it easy to divvy up your personal splurges from your business outgoings. Here’s a quick look at how it works. When you first launch the app, you’ll be asked to set a 4-digit passcode, which will be required each time you open the app. However, this can be disabled from within Settings.     Quick Expenses let you add frequent…

We knew it was happening, although not exactly when, but now Motorola fans in the UK can design and order a custom-made Moto X smartphone. The basic 16GB model starts from £419.99, while upgrading that to the 32GB version takes the base cost to £459.99. From there, you can choose the rest of your finish, although it’s worth noting that if you want a white-fronted Moto X, your handset will take longer to arrive. A wooden or leather rear adds another £20 to the total price. If you’re happy with a black front, however, handsets ordered from today should take about…

4-days-to-go(1024x512)

With the news of our new venue on Wall Street in New York and our event schedule going live, this week has been a big one for The Next Web Conference announcements. And like most things in life, these positives come with a price tag. In this instance, a price tag that increases in just four days. Before you start to panic about your employer’s bovine pace of bureaucracy, do not fear. Our tickets are increasing from an overwhelmingly reasonable $395, to an extremely reasonable $450 – in line with demand. You’ll find that both ticket tiers are significantly cheaper than…

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact review: Small size, big ambitions

xperiafeat3

Smartphones are getting larger. Aside from the Nexus 5, it’s now incredibly difficult to recommend an Android flagship with a 5.2-inch display or lower. Triggered by devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note, the market seems to believe the mantra “bigger is better.” But Sony is banking on the idea that not everyone is subscribing to this philosophy.
