Back in August, we brought you news on Acorns, a new iPhone app that wants to help you get rich through micro-investing your spare change. And today, it’s available for Android too. Unfortunately, the app remains a US-only affair. But as with the iPhone incarnation, Acorns for Android connects up with your credit or debit card and links in with any purchase you make. Acorns can ’round up’ to the nearest dollar and invest this for you automatically, or enable you to do it manually.     Let’s say you buy groceries for $12.53, Acorns can make this an even $13,…

Wave Race. Super Mario Land. Pokemon Blue. James Bond 007. These were the cartridges I had locked in my original Game Boy for years growing up. I can recall the start screen for each of them vividly. But what about every original Game Boy game ever released? That’s an entirely different proposition and one YouTube user NicksplosionFX has fulfilled. Taken from this Wikipedia entry, it features hundreds of classic titles from the ’90s. Just sit back and soak it all in. Those were the days, eh? Read Next: Homestar Runner, the gloriously wacky Web cartoon, is back / 14 Apple devices, one…

The BBC has upgraded Playlister, its service for bookmarking and exporting tracks broadcast through its daily programming, to include television shows on the desktop version of BBC iPlayer. So whether you’re watching a Genesis documentary or the latest instalment of Strictly Come Dancing, you can hit the Playlister button, identify the track and save it to your collection. As before, you can then review your mixtape on the Playlister site and export it to Spotify, Deezer, YouTube or iTunes. The BBC says over 10 million tracks have been added using Playlister over the last 12 months, which has encouraged the company to expand…

Nokia has launched a beta version of its HERE maps and navigation app in the Samsung Galaxy Apps store, giving the smartphone maker a viable alternative to the wildly popular Google Maps. The app is technically a beta build and, for now, exclusive to Samsung’s Galaxy-branded Android smartphones. It signals an interesting push from both parties; what’s left of Nokia from the Microsoft acquisition is no longer tied to Windows Phone, so this is clearly part of the firm’s push to broaden its market share; for Samsung, it’s a chance to reduce its dependency on Google’s services. Nokia has also…

Ofcom has given Three, a mobile operator in the UK, a £250,000 fine for mishandling customer complaints. Following an investigation, the regulator found that Three hadn’t handled subscriber criticisms in a “fair and timely manner.” This included “closing” cases before they were resolved and failing to log appropriate customer calls as complaints. “When things go wrong, customers are not only entitled to complain to their provider, but must have confidence that their complaint will be dealt with fairly,” Claudio Pollack, Ofcom’s Consumer and Content Group Director said. Ofcom says Three has taken measures to ensure these issues don’t arise again….
