Dropbox just became a bit more useful for iOS users. The storage company today updated its iOS app to allow you to save files to your account from essentially any app. With the latest update, iOS users will now see Dropbox listed under iOS 8’s share function. The extension lets you save to your any of your Dropbox folders, and you’ll see progress bar indicating how far along the upload is. Of course, Android users have had this ability basically forever, but it wasn’t possible on Apple devices until iOS 8. The update should make sharing to Dropbox much more seamless. You…

Team

This post is brought to you by Jama Software – reinventing product delivery  by changing how products are conceived, built and launched.

Why is it that engineering and business teams have so much trouble syncing up? You would think that, within the same company, everyone is always aligned around the same goals. The reality, however, is that teams spend way too much time fighting each other for budget, resources, and leadership opportunities. The story of building a new product is often a tale of two brains — business and engineering. These two groups are often in conflict rather than collaborating because they operate on different wavelengths. While engineering recognizes that successful products come from iteration, pivoting, moving quickly, and failing fast, business…

PushBullet
PushBullet for Android, an app that provides mirrored notifications and file transfers between your smartphone and desktop PC, has today announced that you can now respond directly to IMs from its pop-up notification panels on the desktop. Released today, the update works with WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, Telegram, Facebook Messenger and Line, but we’d expect to see other popular IM clients added in future if users shout loudly enough for that support. It works in just the same way as replying to an SMS via PushBullet: just click the reply button and type your message directly in the pop-up. The company noted…

TweetDeck Teams let you share access to Twitter accounts without compromising passwords

Tweetdeck teams
Having a group of people working on a single Twitter account can not only be a security nightmare because of the shared password, but when a person leaves that group or company, that shared password has to change. TweetDeck Teams  fixes that by letting you make an account accessible to team members without sharing a password with them. There are two account levels – contributors can tweet while admins can add and remove team members as well as tweeting.   Contributors are also restricted to accessing the team account from within Tweetdeck. That should reduce the chances of a personal tweet mistakenly…

Daily Pulse takes a minimalist approach to team productivity

Feb17

Daily Pulse
Every business wants to foster a efficient workplace, so companies frequently use complex productivity software to make sure tasks are getting done. Employees, meanwhile, often feel like managers are breathing down their neck. These qualities can combine to reduce a worker’s engagement with his job. Daily Pulse believes it can make progress reports more fun and rewarding by doing away with management and collaboration hurdles and focusing instead on concise daily communication. The core product is simple: Each day, team members receive an email asking “What did you accomplish today?” (you can change or add questions). The next morning, Daily Pulse will send everyone a summary so the team…
