"For nearly twenty years, the West has said Iran will have an atomic bomb within three years. By now they should already have an impressive nuke arsenal. Skimlinks, the company that lets Website owners monetize their content by linking to affiliate products when mentioned on a page, is revealing a new reporting feature for its customers. Called Publisher Insights, the tool provides detailed information on a page’s performance and the behavior of its readers. There are two main aspects to the functionality being unveiled today: Product Reports provides a holistic view of the products and merchants that were the most effective over the past month. Publishers are then able to see the top products both on their own pages and within the entirety of Skimlinks’ network. Next up is Pages Report,…

Zuckerberg: Don’t expect a Facebook car

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg hosted a Q&A in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress event. Like previous events, he took questions from the audience and of course pre-screened questions from Facebook. Right off the bat, he was asked about Facebook working on other technologies like Google with its driverless car and Apple with its rumored car. Zuckerberg answered that Facebook is pretty focused as a company that connects people. Sounds like no Facebook car with a dedicated Like button. Even when he talked about how excited he was about the work they were doing with Oculus Rift, he said, “everything…

Instagram ads are now clickable and can include image carousels

Instagram is making a small but important change to the way ads are presented on its platform: you can now click on them. These only work on the new carousel-style ads the platform is unveiling today, however. These ads allow you to swipe left and right to look through an image slideshow. Frankly, the update makes sense; making links clickable doesn’t add any distractions and could in fact be genuinely useful if a user is actually interested in the product or information being shown off. Developing…

Google releases a new API for real-time messaging between services

Google is today launching a new tool to make it easier for applications and services on and off of its Cloud Platform to communicate with one another: Google Cloud Pub/Sub. The API – still in beta – is designed to offer real-time, reliable messaging as a stronger alternative to hard wiring service dependencies. Google says the technology behind it has already been used to support applications such as Snapchat’s recently unveiled Discover feature, as well as Google’s own services like Hangouts. The API provides all customers 10,000 topics and 10,000 messages per second by default, and features resources for every region…

TweetDeck accounts are being scrapped on March 31, replaced by Twitter logins

TweetDeck has announced that by the end of this month, all users are required to log into the tool using their Twitter credentials. It’s scrapping TweetDeck-specific accounts on March 31. To switch your credentials, all you have to do is look for the Switch button at the top of your screen to make the change. All your account settings and functionality will remain unchanged; TweetDeck says the migration is intended to improve security by verifying users directly from their synced Twitter accounts. It’s clear that Twitter is ramping up security for its products, with the debut of its new group Twitter management system named TweetDeck…
