Everyone’s favorite place to get memes and GIFs, Imgur, is getting its own iOS app. If you’re first reaction is, “wait, didn’t they already have an app?” You would be correct, but Imgur says this is way better than that old app which they have pulled from the App Store. The new app is part of the company’s push to be a place for visual stories and give users a streamlined way to explore and discover those stories. It lets you browse by swiping left and right; up and down vote on images; and and participate in threaded discussions about the pictures. You can…

Everyone hates business cards, right? Remembering to actually take them to events and not losing those that others give to you isn’t exactly easy. Zap for iPhone wants to bring the business card into the smartphone age. Zap lets you create a virtual business card in a few seconds from your social profile — like LinkedIn or Twitter — then makes it shareable with a simple flick motion to make it appear on the other person’s screen. The idea is simple, but addictive when you’re making virtual business cards rain. You can customize your business card from a handful of supplied layouts…

nyc
Even if you’ve never stepped foot in New York City, scenes from YesterVid’s vintage footage dating back to 1896 –and spanning 1896 to 1905 — is breathtaking. There’s the parades, the well-dressed people, the playful, casual atmosphere, the skyscrapers, the majestic surroundings, the cops, windy spring days and of course, ancient landmarks that have not survived the modern age. It even superimposes the Twin Towers into the landscape at their approximate position, because that’s history too. The clips, derived from the…

Etsy, the platform for buying and selling handmade goodies, is filing for an initial public offering (IPO), according to a blog post. The proposed offering is $100 million, according to the filing. Reports that Etsywould be filing for an IPO first appeared in January, initially suggesting the company was looking to raise $300 million. The company reported $1.35 billion in gross sales on its marketplace in 2013. Etsy intends to list on NASDAQ as – predictably – ETSY. ➤ Etsy Has Filed a Registration Statement for an IPO
