the-sync-project-
Music can have various psychological effects on us: numerous studies conclude that certain genres can enhance our moods, boost concentration, trigger emotional reactions or pump up our energy levels. We also have specific musical tastes and preferences – but why do we like some songs more than others? The Sync Project aims to figure this out on the biometric level. Using a series of wearables – a brainwave-sensing headband, a fitness tracker, a heart rate chest monitor – it hopes to measure exactly how your body reacts when listening to different songs. The team also worked with design firm IDEO to create a visually…

Meerkat
Meerkat has launched a new feature that lets you easily follow other users via the Web. It’s a simple way to connect with people you’re not following on Twitter already. You can create the link to invite other people to follow you by using the meerkat.co domain and adding your Twitter handle. This can be shared on any of your social media pages where users can click on the image to follow you. These users will then receive notifications of your live streams through the app on their phones. communication

This post is brought to you by Jama Software – reinventing product delivery  by changing how products are conceived, built and launched.

Failure and technology are two words that have become increasingly familiar in recent years. From the wildly popular FailCon – the annual conference where the tech community explores their failures – to the 41 million results that come back from Google when you type in, “why products fail”. While failure has become an accepted part of technology’s lexicon, a question still hovers over why precisely does it happen so often? One of the biggest, according to research firm Forrester Consulting, is a mismatch between the expectations of those involved. As many as 40 per cent of companies cited in the…

Cybersecurity hack attack shutterstock_103173644_cyber_hack_security
According to FireEye researchers, a large number of iOS and Android apps are still vulnerable to the FREAK bug despite patches being released. The report suggests Android has the biggest problem, with over 10 percent of apps open to attack. The researchers scanned almost 11,000 Android apps that have more than a million downloads each and found that over 1000 of them were still vulnerable because they use an Open SSL library to connect to HTTPS servers. They wrote: These 1228 apps have been downloaded over 6.3 billion times. Of these 1228 Android apps, 664 use Android’s bundled OpenSSL library…

Skype-for-Business-Get-Ready-1-1024x682
Microsoft just revealed its technical preview of Skype for Business – the client that will unify Lync and Skype – on Monday, but it’s not done sharing news yet. In a blog post detailing the future of its business communication platform, it’s announced that it will offer its Enterprise Voice feature to business Office 365 users, allowing them to place calls and start conferences over old school landline (PTSN) connections with a good-old phone number. Previously, this functionality would require businesses to have a Lync Server set-up and pay a separate PTSN service from a third-party. Microsoft is now working with a variety…
