Replacing Droid Serif as the default typeface for e-books via Google Books, Google says Literata is “perfect for long reads on all devices”. Created in conjunction with TypeFace, Google began work on Literata in April 2014. The goal was a “new book typeface was needed that would provide an outstanding reading experience on a whole range of devices and high resolution screens running different rendering technologies”. That awkward moment when the app on your iPhone points out awkward moments… That’s what the new iPhone app SoAwkward aims to do, which made its debut on Product Hunt today. SoAwkward is a fairly new app that sources awkward statements from Twitter that we can all relate to, are often funny, or is a bit uncomfortable. Their description of their app explains it best: Surprisingly smooth without any of the dull emotions. The quality of the collection is rendered more enticing due to a hint of humour, rich and dark in perception, it delivers complex varietal flavors of happiness and discomfort,…

President Obama began tweeting as @POTUS today, but he’s not the first person to use that name on Twitter. That honor goes to San Franciso-based Steve D’Alimonte, program director a youth-media/violence prevention organization and freelance video producer. James Liam Cook of Business Insider uncovered the connection: There was a Twitter user with the @POTUS username back in 2008. (He’s now @stevedalimonte) pic.twitter.com/pipb9DUu8G — James Cook (@JamesLiamCook) May 18, 2015 And Steve confirmed it: It's true @JamesLiamCook I was the original @POTUS — Steve D'Alimonte (@stevedalimonte) May 18, 2015 You're welcome for the handle @POTUS. It is a great example of Silicon Valley’s hegemonial approach, which is supported by the rest of the world who just copy models blindly that are marketed as successful without understanding the models fully or having…

Apple Watch
By the time Apple Watch supply catches up with demand, the wearable may be a whole lot better. According to a new report from 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman, a software update for Apple Watch will bring third-party “complications” — widgets that roll in features like a count for unread Twitter mentions — straight to your watch face.
