Well before Google decided it would leak the Pixel 4 on its own terms, LG had been teasing and revealing features on its own devices for years. Today, the company began the marketing efforts for its next flagship, posting a short teaser that seems to reveal a triple-screened device to be announced at IFA on September 6. The video, simply labeled IFA 2019 Invitation, appears to show off a device that opens up with two full-size panels, along with a smaller panel for information on the front ‘cover’ of the phone. Rather than one seamless panel like the Galaxy Fold…

Minecraft and Roblox are on the rise as Fortnite starts to tire

Minecraft and Roblox, two games that have been around for a decade or more, are enjoying a rise in popularity and user base at the moment. Meanwhile, the fortunes of Epic Games’ Fortnite appear to be mellowing out somewhat. The old favorites are staging a comeback, and they could provide a glimpse into the battle royale game’s future. It’s been almost imperceptible, but interest in Fortnite is starting to slowly drift downwards. Not a sharp drop-off by any means but still — gamers are starting to show less rabid enthusiasm for Epic’s cash cow. Forbes writer Paul Tassi noticed the Google search trends for Fortnite have declined steadily in the…

Technology promised to automate the tasks humans weren’t absolutely needed for, giving us time back and making us more productive in one fell swoop. But it did something else, too: It added distractions we’d never known. Technological distraction eats up a lot of the time and mental space technology itself had given us. From social media to Reddit to online gaming, we find ourselves devoting hours to the addictive outlets tech has provided us. The worst part is that these distractions can lure us in at the exact place where it will hamper our productivity: work. Work is full of…

Here’s what we need to build our first moon base

Half a century after humans first walked on the moon, a number of private companies and nations are planning to build permanent bases on the lunar surface. Despite the technological progress since the Apollo era, this will be extremely challenging. So how should you get started? The conditions at the lunar surface are extreme. The moon has a 28-day rotation period, resulting in two weeks of continuous sunlight followed by two weeks of darkness at most latitudes. As the moon lacks any significant atmosphere to distribute heat from the sun, temperatures during the day can rise to 130°C. Meanwhile, the…

Everything you ever wanted to know about the Apple Card

Apple is rolling out its much sought-after credit card to select users today. The company said the card, issued in partnership with Goldman Sachs, will be made available to all iPhone users in the US later this month. Users will have to apply for the Apple Card through the wallet app on their iPhone. They’ll need to fill in information such as their name, birthdate, income level, and last four digits of their Social Security number. Apple says this information will go to Goldman Sachs’ servers and approval will take under a minute. Once approval is granted, users can Apply…
