In a surprise evening announcement, Nintendo revealed that its next big mobile title, Mario Kart Tour, will arrive on September 25. The company made the announcement in an unceremonious tweet. Though it doesn’t specify platforms, presumably that date includes both Android and iOS devices. Pre-registration for Mario Kart Tour is now available! For more details, please click here: https://t.co/loB3wf6eOv#MarioKartTour will be available on 9/25. We hope you’re looking forward to getting behind the wheel of this new game! pic.twitter.com/afPFp94iNi — Mario Kart Tour (@mariokarttourEN) August 27, 2019 The company originally released a beta for the Android version of the game…

KFC launches test run of ‘miracle’ non-meat nuggets

Kentucky Fried Chicken is testing a new recipe at a restaurant in Atlanta — essentially, it’s going without the “C” of KFC, offering a “Kentucky Fried Miracle” in the form of Beyond Meats’ plant-based fake meat nuggets. If it’s well-received, KFC might roll it out to more places — which can only be a win. It’s Kentucky Fried Chicken but it’s made with @BeyondMeat. It’s confusing, but it’s also delicious. Feast on these Kentucky Fried miracles tomorrow while they last at KFC in Atlanta, Georgia. pic.twitter.com/lC5oYM1cmk — KFC (@kfc) August 26, 2019 Plant-based meat alternatives have been around for decades, but it’s…

Google’s new policy forbids employees from having ‘raging debates’ over politics

Those days are over. The Mountain View company recently updated its Community Guidelines for employees to reflect a change in company culture. Usually, policy updates don’t warrant a news article, but the language in this particular one is the strongest indication that Google‘s finished pretending to be a scrappy startup and it’s now…

Report: Apple’s ‘Project OGRS’ almost turned the iPhone into a walkie-talkie

Aug26
by Sindy Cator on August 26, 2019 at 7:57 pm
Posted In: Around the Web, Insider

Remember those old push-to-talk phones? You know, the ones that basically worked like a walkie-talkie, letting people chat without connecting to a cellular network or dialing a phone number? As it turns out, Apple might’ve tried to stick a walkie-talkie-like feature of its own on future iPhones. The feature has since been put on hold. A report by The Information states Apple was working with Intel on the technology. It was codenamed Project OGRS (Off Grid Radio Service) at Apple and Project Shrek at Intel. Who says giant tech corporations don’t have a sense of humor? To be clear, this wasn’t like the WiFi…
