Security vulnerabilities have been discovered in “various” Bitcoin Lightning Network projects that have potential to cause users to lose their cryptocurrency. Those running Lightning Network nodes have been advised to upgrade their clients as soon as possible, including those related to popular wallet solution Eclair. At present, exact information is scarce, but the original post shared via a Lightning Network mailing list promises release of “full details” in four weeks. Terrorist organizations have used social media and cryptocurrency to raise money for a number of years, but messaging app Telegram’s upcoming token launch has caused some to become increasingly concerned. A report by the Washington-based Middle East Media Research Institutes (MEMRI) has found that terrorist organizations like ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Hamas are using Telegram and social-media platforms to raise cryptocurrency, the Jewish News Syndicate reports.
