Apple’s annual iPhone event went down today at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. As you might expect, we heard news about several Apple products, some expected, and a few surprises mixed in for good measure. For the first time, the event streamed live on YouTube — a welcome break from the glitchy Safari experience of recent years. Here’s the best of what Apple had on offer today. Apple Arcade Apple’s App Store is set to receive a refresh, with the first thing announced being a new “Arcade” tab on mobile devices. Click the tab to find new games, strategy guides,…

After years of shipping a tiny 5W charger brick in the box with iPhones, Apple with finally include an 18W USB C-to-lightening charger with the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Sadly, the iPhone 11 won’t get the benefit of that. Apple says its new battery will offer four hours more battery life on the iPhone 11 Pro as compared to the iPhone Xs; five hours more on the iPhone 11 Pro Max as compared to the iPhone Xs Max. Last month, a tweet from ChargeLAB,  a website focused on charging peripherals, predicted this development correctly. Apple’s support page for fast…

Just as we all expected, Apple announced the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max today – the more advanced (and expensive) alternative to the iPhone 11. It comes with triple cameras, and Apple notes its serious about the ‘Pro’ name: it’s a device for people to get work done. The device comes in the same sizes as the iPhone XS and XS Max – that is, 5.8 and 6.5 inches – but is available in snazzy new matte finishes, including a surprising ‘midnight green.’ The phone features a new ‘Super Retina XDR; OLED panel capable of brightness up to 1,200…

The iPhone 11 is real. At its event in Cupertino today, Apple revealed its latest phones, along with a new naming scheme. This post focuses on the cheaper iPhone 11; you can read about the ‘Pro’ models here. The iPhone 11 is the base model this time around – the successor to the iPhone Xr. It packs the same 6.1-inch screen size, comes in 6 colors, and includes Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers. It features a dual camera; notably, the second camera features an ultra-wide lens as opposed to a telephoto lens as in past devices. The main improvements seem to be…
