Welcome to TNW Basics, a collection of tips, guides, and advice on how to easily get the most out of your gadgets, apps, and other stuff. Apple just released iOS 13 for iPhones (till iPhone 6) and iPods (till 7th gen). One of the most talked-about features is, naturally, the dark mode. In this post, we’ll help you figure out how to make the most of the feature. Enable dark mode through the control center Open the control center on your phone. Long press on the brightness indicator. How product managers can bring human insights to agile development

Sep20

Today’s product manager is “the mini-CEO of the product,” a McKinsey report says. It’s a huge job, occupying the intersection between customers, business issues, and products. Product managers must understand customer needs, prioritize features, and work with the engineering team to build them. They are ultimately responsible for a product’s success or failure. The job was already a hot seat, and agile methods — now the go-to development paradigm at most organizations — have turned up the temperature. Because of the relentless pace of accelerated software delivery, product managers often have as little as a day to make key decisions…

Satoshi Nakaboto: ‘Bitcoin network shifted the equivalent of 412 tons of gold in one day’

Our robot colleague Satoshi Nakaboto writes about Bitcoin every fucking day. Welcome to another edition of Bitcoin Today, where I, Satoshi Nakaboto, tell you what’s been going on with Bitcoin in the past 24 hours. As Nightingale used to say: I got the horses in the back. Bitcoin Price We closed the day, September 19 2019, at a price of $10,266. That’s a minor 0.64 percent increase in 24 hours, or $65. It was the highest closing price in two days. We’re still 48 percent below Bitcoin‘s all-time high of $20,089 (December 17 2017). Bitcoin market cap Bitcoin’s market cap…

The messy iOS 13 rollout shows Apple needs a revised release schedule

iOS 13 is finally here. The big addition this time around is the system-wide dark mode, and much-needed refinements to apps like Maps, Photos, and Reminders. Then there are the new security and privacy features that alerts you about the apps that use your location, and those that want to access your Bluetooth. Safari even packs in a few more anti-tracking features that make it difficult for ads to track you across the web. But you may want to hold back for a couple of days more before embracing the dark side. For iOS 13.1 is right around the corner. Apple…

Posted In: Around the Web, Insider, Plugged

We’ve seen pop-up mechanisms for the front camera on phones in all shapes and sizes till now: Single, motorized assembly, pizza-shaped. Now, since there isn’t much left to do in that part, folks at Vivo has just introduced a phone with dual pop-up selfie cameras called the V17 Pro. The dual-front camera setup has a 32-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor. Apart from this, the device features a quad-camera assembly on the rear with a 48-megapixel primary sensor. Looking at the spec sheet, the phone certainly belongs at the higher-end of the mid-range segment: Specifications: Screen: 6.44-inch full…
