Last year, Xiaomi launched a sub-brand called Poco and announced a sub-$300 phone called the Pocophone F1. The phone packed the latest Qualcomm processor and sizable RAM in a plastic body. While it was great value for money, the company had cut corners in design and camera department to make it affordable. This year, the Chinese phone maker has introduced a new series – the K series – which dabbles in the same price range as the Pocophone F1, but sports a much better design and a triple camera on the rear on its Pro offering. I’ve been using the K20…

Welcome to CHEAP, our series about things that are good, but most of all, cheap. CHEAP! It’s been a tough day at the office. You put your blood, sweat, and tears into your work, so you’re understandably drained. Normal people make it home by 6PM, but you work late shifts, so it’s already dark when you walk into your digs. You take your dirty clothes off and grab a seat, releasing a deep sigh of relief. “Ah, crap, I forgot to turn the lights on,” it occurs to you. Aw, how convenient it would be if you could just do that without having…

Whether it’s your coffee cup spilling over laptop or a virus deleting all of your files, there’s no shortage of threats that can turn your thousand-dollar computer into a high-tech doorstop. And, while the hardware damage is painful enough, it’s the additional loss of your precious files that really twists the knife.

A Canadian man alleged to have conned an Oregonian woman out of $230,000 worth of Bitcoin is being held in prison so that he doesn’t flee the US to Canada. US Attorney Quinn Harrington said they were concerned that the perpetrator would flee and then fight extradition. The accused, Karanjit Singh Khatkar, purportedly made two phone calls to his brother advising him to stay out of the US to avoid arrest, Oregon Live reports. “[The] defendant told his brother to stay in Canada because he knows he can delay or avoid justice there,” Harrington said to the court. In one…

Libra exec promises Facebook’s plan isn’t to replace existing currencies

The Libra Association really wants us to know that Facebook cryptocurrency is not being created to replace existing currencies. Manager Director Bertrand Perez, speaking at a blockchain conference hosted at the United Nation headquarters in Geneva today, said: “We are not in the area of implementing any monetary policy with the (Libra) Reserve.” Additionally, Perez went on to say that the digital currency could help achieve many UN sustainable development goals, including eradicating poverty and improving gender equality – Libra would also benefit the tech giant’s bottom line. Perez’s remarks come just one day after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke about his willingness…
