Microsoft teases Xbox hardware reveal next month

Microsoft today hinted it could be showing off some fun new hardware at a major gaming event next month and be still, my heart. The details: Microsoft gave a small preview of what to expect from its visit to this year’s Gamescom, to be held in Germany in late August. In a blog post today, the company announced it’d be offering “all-new Xbox hardware and accessories” along with “a few surprises.” I don’t delude myself into thinking this is where the company will unveil its next console, codenamed Scarlett. If it had anything of Scarlett worth showing, I suspect they’d…

Review: This dirt-cheap bluetooth speaker is loud enough to get you evicted

Another day, another thing to review. This time around, I’m looking at the Raycon Turbo Cannon XL Bluetooth speaker. This device — which is a bit like a boombox for the digital age, promising to annoy anyone in close proximity — is loud as hell, and packs 12W drivers. It also supports a variety of audio connectivity formats, including Bluetooth, SD card, and AUX-in. Raycon? Never heard of them. Raycon is indeed a fairly new player in the audio world. It was founded by rapper Ray J in 2006 as Raytroniks, which was a vehicle (pun intended) to sell a line of…

The most extensive legal report on initial coin offerings (ICOs) is now available to the general public, and the findings are pretty damning. University of Pennsylvania legal professors, alongside research teams, have meticulously studied the top 50 highest grossing ICOs of last year – their whitepapers and their code – to determine if there was any disparity between promises made and cryptocurrencies developed. An excerpt from the 100-page publication reads: Our basic finding is that ICO code and ICO contracts rarely match. In a financial ecosystem built around the proposition that regulation is unnecessary because code is the final guarantee of performance, the…

Instagram is testing out a new feature to remove creepy followers discreetly

Having a public Instagram account is great a way to show your life (or the life you live on holiday) but it’s a tough job monitoring who can see your latest updates. Instagram is testing a new feature with some public users on Android that allows them to manually remove people from their followers list without notifying them.  Instagram now lets you manually remove followers!?! h/t @blueasyraff pic.twitter.com/McIXETlR7I — Matt Navarra (@MattNavarra) July 17, 2018 Up until now, the only way of removing a user from your followers list was to block and then unblock them (a.k.a ‘soft-blocking’), blocking them completely,…
