No, Twitter isn’t ‘shadow banning’ conservative voices. Here’s what’s really going on.

President Trump today took to Twitter to do what he does best: Make false, inflammatory statements as loudly as possible. Trump, though, only deserves part of the blame on this one. Twitter “SHADOW BANNING” prominent Republicans. Not good. We will look into this discriminatory and illegal practice at once! Many complaints. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 26, 2018 The hubbub started last night when Alex Thompson framed a story perhaps as poorly as any journalist could possibly frame a story. Thompson, the politics editor at Vice News stated, falsely, that Twitter was shadow banning prominent conservative voices. Mentioned specifically…

Scientists confirm Einstein’s theory of relativity

A team of scientists working with the European Southern Observatory (ESO), in Chile, recently concluded a 26 year study to determine what happens when a star passes by a black hole. The results of the campaign appear to confirm Albert Einstein’s famed theory of general relativity. It turns out, E really does equal MC squared. Not that it was ever in doubt, but any good theory worth its salt needs to be tested. Unfortunately back in Einstein’s day (circa 1905) you couldn’t just drive on down to the relativity store and purchase some extreme gravitational fields to test out your…

Atlassian invests in Slack, kills HipChat and Stride

Atlassian has announced a new strategic partnership with Slack, the workplace chat behemoth. As part of the deal, Atlassian makes a significant equity investment in Slack, although it’s keeping mum on how much money is on the table. In return, Slack is purchasing the IP for HipChat Cloud and Stride (which Atlassian launched just last year). Atlassian plans to discontinue both products next year, and help customers on both platforms migrate to Slack. Atlassian has also promised to build tighter integrations between its products. The company owns a number of properties, particularly in the devops and workplace productivity space, including…

Samsung’s new display is officially ‘unbreakable.’ I can’t wait to break it.

Samsung today announced its “unbreakable smart panel” was officially certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). For those waiting for the hype cycle to clear before taking the technology seriously, this means Samsung‘s newest OLED panel is, for all intents and purposes, unbreakable. I can’t wait to break it. The panel uses an “unbreakable substrate” in lieu of glass. The substrate is a coating that essentially turns it into a hardened plastic. Unlike glass, the coating is flexible and shatterproof. In fact, according to Samsung, it’s many times more durable than glass and unlikely to break during day-to-day use. To test these…
