DigitalOcean today announced the official release of its managed Kubernetes hosting, which it launched in a private beta earlier this year in May. The company, which is best known for its ultra-cheap VPS hosting, says that DigitalOcean Kubernetes is production ready for companies to deploy their critical applications on. “Kubernetes promises to be one of the leading technologies in a developer’s arsenal to gain the scalability, portability and availability needed to build modern apps. Once again, we begin to look back at 2018 and try to determine what trends will help shape another year. Inevitably 2019 will consist of both challenges and opportunities in equal measure. But, what have we learned over the last 12 months and how are we progressing forward as a global community? There is an increasing awareness that we need to protect the security and privacy of almost every aspect of our lives. Although many suspected that their digital footprint would come back to haunt them in a few years, it appears that some were blindsided by tech behemoths that…

Researchers from Duo Security, an authentication services company owned by Cisco Systems, have published a blog post that explains how to methodically identify “amplification bots.” These are defined as automated Twitter accounts that purely exist to artificially amplify the reach of content through retweets and likes. It expands upon their talk at the 2018 Black Hat USA conference, “Don’t @ Me: Hunting Twitter Bots at Scale.” The pair created a dataset of 576 million posts and filtered it to show those that had…
