Twitter is discarding its #Music iOS app as a failed experiment after spending nearly a year trying to gain traction for it. The company revealed on Friday that it will remove the offering from the App Store today and deactivate the app for existing users on April 18. The company did note, however that it will “continue to experiment with new ways to bring you great content based on the music activity we see every day on Twitter.” Last month, Twitter announced a new partnership with music industry firm 300 Entertainment to share up its music data and analytics. At…

We’ve heard of major events having their own mobile apps to help you sort through and plan your attendance at numerous sessions and conferences. Macworld/iWorld—a consumer oriented show for the Mac community famous for doing things its own way—is now taking the app thing a step further. For the first time, the Macworld/iWorld conference has a designated an official iPhone photo app: Trunx. This free app from Lifetime Memori lets you capture, organize, and store your photos privately in the cloud. Its EchoPix feature can simultaneously record sound as you shoot. Almost a month ago, messaging service Telegram exploded in popularity, climbing to the top of the App Store in nearly 50 countries worldwide. WhatsApp’s temporary outage and security concerns were the perfect backdrop for Telegram to promote its privacy-focused apps. Today, Telegram updated its mobile apps with a couple of new features; one you would expect from prolific messaging services such as LINE, WhatsApp and KakaoTalk, and one you probably wouldn’t. The former is voice notes, which gives its ballooning user base the ability to send audio recordings to one another. It’s depicted with a microphone to the right of…

This post originally appeared on the 15five blog and has been republished with permission. Running a company can often feel like caring for a newborn child. There is a natural and healthy fear that arises that if you are not eternally vigilant then something bad will happen. With a baby, this is called good parenting. With a company, this is called micromanagement and it is universally resented by all employees. Your company may feel like your baby, but the professionals that you hire to implement your vision are competent, skilled adults who do not desire to be treated that way….

Most mobile browsers are shrunken versions of their desktop counterparts. You type in a site with the traditional ad bar at the top of the screen and either go back or switch between tabs by tapping tiny icons. It works, but it rarely feels like an experience built from the group up for smartphones and tablets. MAZ, known for its digital publishing platform that shares the same name, recently launched an app called Stream Web to tackle the problem. It’s a mobile browser that places considerable emphasis on gesture-based controls and a unique screenshot sharing mechanism. How it works Whenever…
