The BBC updated its iPlayer Radio for iOS app today with a handful of useful new features, making what was already an impressive piece of software just a little bit sweeter. Favorites is the biggest addition, giving radio enthusiasts the ability to save their favorite shows for easy access later. They’re added by tapping the information symbol (shown with a white “i”) next to any listing, followed by the favorites option on the back of the card. BitTorrent today released BitTorrent Sync version 1.3 with a few new features, as well as Windows Phone support. You can download the new file sharing tool now for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Windows Phone over at BitTorrent.com/Sync. Nvidia and IBM unveil NVLink interconnect between CPUs and GPUs coming in 2016 with 5x-12x faster data sharing

Nvidia and IBM today announced a high-speed interconnect called NVLink which dramatically improves data movement between the CPU and GPU. The new technology will be integrated into Nvidia’s future GPUs, starting with its Pascal GPU architecture expected to be introduced in 2016, as well as IBM’s future versions of its Power CPUs. The companies claim NVLink enables GPUs and CPUs to share data five to 12 times faster than they can today, eliminating what they call “a longstanding bottleneck.” The duo believes the innovation will help pave the way for a new generation of exascale supercomputers that are 50 to…

Google Slides and Drawings now have basic image-editing tools built in

If you use Google Drive‘s browser-based PowerPoint rival Slides, or its Drawings tool, you’ll find some new features today that will allow you to fix up images to make them look just the way you want them. There’s a basic cropping tool, plus numerous shaped masks. You’ll also find a range of colored borders available.
